Many years ago my mother-in-law treated us to a cruise trip to Norway. I’m not a huge fan of traveling this way. I feel like I barely saw the country. But there were mysterious and enchanting scenes from the ship as we would approach and depart small coastal towns. I feel like a grey mist never lifted but the brightly painted wooden house nestled into the shoreline would pop thru reminding us of another way of life. As in a child’s fairy tale I fantasize about life in those cottages while knowing full well how difficult that life must be.
