Pinecrest Lake

In August of 2019 my husband and I were lucky enough to be invited to the California cabin of dear friends. It was minutes from Pinecrest Lake, a national park in the Sierras. A trip to California is always a rare treat but I was so fascinated by the scenes of the almond farms and rural life we passed on our 4 hour car trip from San Jose east to the mountains. The cabin sat in a dense forest bustling with noisy birds. Every day we would pack lunches and go to the lake where a short walk from the car thru a curtain of tall thin trees would unveil a perfect lake in heightened Kodachrome colors. And every single day the sky was the same cobalt blue, the water cerulean, the rocks white and clean and the deep green of the trees. No grey clouds. No humidity. No bugs. I’m pretty convinced Disney is behind this place.
