“Life’s under no obligation to give us what we expect.”― Margaret Mitchell

As I adjust to middle age and beyond Ms Mitchell’s quote resonates with me more than I can say. However blessed I may be, I am also trying to a accept the ways life has not gone as planned. Many of these “disappointments” are petty and materialistic but that doesn’t not mean they don’t exist.

In this series, I do more than express my thoughts on the topic of aging, I paint them. I sit with them for months on end pondering my dreams and losses with each stitch. I watch them disappear from the top and fall to the ground. I watch them melt out of my life. And in doing so I gain some closure, some peace and the joy that comes from the process of creating the work.
